A chance to cross-pollinate knowledge among fellow South Australians

The South Australian Permaculture Convergence 2026 is a collaborative skill-sharing gathering designed around shared learning, connection and time in nature.

Bring your experience, curiosity and ideas to contribute to hands-on sessions, thoughtful conversations and collective learning

Whether you have something to share or are simply eager to learn from others, SAPC Unplugged will be an incredible opportunity to connect and grow practical permaculture skills while hanging out in the beautiful bushland of Douglas Scrub near McLaren Vale.

With two big days of skill-sharing, three nights of accommodation and all meals included in your ticket, this event will be a time to unwind, connect, learn and play.

How SAPC Unplugged is different to previous convergences

Feedback from our 2023 and 2024 convergences showed that people valued connection just as much as the skills and learning. In response, we’re moving away from a tightly structured conference format and trying something slower, more open and community-led.

For our 2026 gathering, the focus is on collaboration, local knowledge, hands-on learning, conversation and community ownership.

Rather than a pre-arranged program, the convergence is shaped by the people who attend, via a free-flowing schedule that we’ll co-create on arrival and throughout the weekend.

What to expect

  • Two days of participant-led skill-sharing, talks, discussions and practical sessions.

  • Time and space to walk, rest, chat, connect and reflect.

  • Simple vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner provided each day.

  • Chance to play and have fun — bring your games, frisbees, instruments, costumes, limbo sticks and skills (yoga, tai chi, etc).

  • Opportunity to stay on site for three nights, or stay nearby and enter the convergence site each day.

  • Everyone will contribute to the weekend in small, shared ways (such as a kitchen shift, facilitating a workshop or helping newly arrived campers get settled).

There is no pressure to attend everything or contribute to a presentation. You’re free to move through the weekend in a way that suits your skills, energy and interests.

Skills, ideas and conversations that may unfold…

  • Permaculture gardening

Food forests, perennial gardening, edible weeds, foraging, medicinal herbs, local farming

  • Sustainable housing

Low-impact renovations, passive solar building, tiny houses, communal and shared living

  • Practical skills

Mending, weaving, penny stoves, keeping chickens, self-sufficiency in the city, adapting to climate change, knots, natural dyeing, reducing digital footprints

  • Joyful contributions

Art, yoga, tai chi, games, acro-yoga, bush walking, nature connection, music and jamming

  • Social permaculture

First Nations language, neurodivergent approaches, queering permaculture, coping with failure, building community, fostering resilience
